CURIOUS NETWORKS LAUNCHES EXTEND, THE FIRST MOBILE APPLICATION UPGRADE OFFERING |
With Curious Networks Extend, Companies Exchange Existing Single Device Mobile Applications for Complete Cross-Device Functionality |

CHICAGO - October 1, 2001 - Curious Networks, a leading mobile solutions provider, announced the introduction of Curious Networks Extend. Extend targets companies and software vendors which have already developed, or have begun to develop, a mobile application and found it too costly or time-consuming to deploy more than a single device. Extend allows these firms to exchange their existing mobile applications for a complete, end-to-end mobile solution. |

"We have seen companies write or begin to write an application for a mobile device and stop before rolling it out to customers because of the great uncertainty on how to support and maintain that application as new mobile technologies hit the market," says Jeff Palmer, CTO of Curious Networks. "With Curious Networks Extend, powered by the Continuum engine, we can help significantly increase the value of these organizations' existing mobile investments." |
Curious Networks Extend offers companies two separate options for upgrading their mobile solutions. The first option, ExtendDemo, starting at less than $10,000, gives companies a complete demo-ready, multi-device application hosted on Curious Networks secure access servers. The second option, ExtendPilot, provides companies a complete end-to-end solution including Continuum licenses, complete user interface branding, backend data integration, and Continuum training. Both packages are available to companies with no current mobile solutions for an additional fee. |

"There is a feeling that current mobile applications have fallen short of initial expectations," explains Ahmed Hedayat, COO of Curious Networks. "This is mainly due to the difficulties companies have had in developing useful applications that will run on all of the numerous wireless devices. Curious Networks Extend allows companies to realize the full value of deploying mobile applications to their users and customers." |
The foundation of Extend is the Curious Networks Continuum presentation server which allows companies to provide mobile access into their applications without needing to understand the complexities of the mobile world. Continuum can reside within or next to virtually any application and will support most forms of mobile communication including Palm, WindowsCE, RIM Blackberry, and voice recognition.
