CHICAGO
- March 13, 2002 - Curious Networks, the leading provider of mobile-enablement solutions for software manufacturers, today released mobile device usage statistics collected during COMDEX Chicago. Based on usage of the "mobile.comdex.com" wireless portal, the results offer a glimpse into the complexity of the future mobile environment.

"When we first launched the site, mobile.comdex.com, we expected a dozen different devices accessing the applications," says Eric Berkowitz, Project Manager at Curious Networks for mobile.comdex.com. "By the end of the week, we were delivering content to over 50 different types of mobile phones and PDAs spanning several countries." |
Over the four day event held in Chicago last week, Curious Networks' system uniquely identified 65 different devices ranging from variations of the Palm Computing platform, WindowsCE devices, and many different makes and models of Internet-enabled mobile phones. Approximately 75% of the traffic was directed at looking up information on Metromixs area restaurant and nightlife content. Visitors from four different countries accessed the site and over a third of the visitors had already visited the site. |
The site allows users to review conference schedule information, learn about uses of mobile technologies in businesses, and find restaurants and area attractions around Chicago. Information and content was provided from multiple sources including Tribune Interactive's Metromix.com, a subsidiary of Tribune Co. (NYSE: TRB), Trilegiant, Participate Systems, eGain Communications (NASDAQ: EGAN), AvantGo (NASDAQ:AVGO), and the City of Chicago. |
