Curious Networks hired Richard Russert as vice president of sales.
Previously, Russert was director of alliances at Abaco PR Inc., a Roswell,
Ga.-based wireless data collection company.
Chicago-based Curious Networks sells a Web-development platform called
Continuum that enables programmers to format a single Website for presentation
through several channels without the need to reprogram. The Web developers use
a custom language called MAXML to imbed tags in the Website that determine how
information will be sent to a PC, Web-enabled phone or PDA screen.

Authentify Inc. hired Kevin McPherson as vice president of finance and
administration and CFO. Previously, McPherson was vice president of finance
and administration and CFO at Teach.com.
Chicago-based Authentify sells Internet-based identity-confirmation
software. The company's technology, which provides a secure management
platform for employee and client username/password systems, has a patent pending.

Ampersand Medical Corp. (OTCBB: AMPM) named Gregory Sachs senior vice
president of regulatory and clinical affairs. Previously, Sachs was executive
vice president and vice president, regulatory and clinical affairs, at First
Circle Medical Inc.
Chicago-based Ampersand develops screening systems for the detection of
cancer and other diseases. The company's system for cervical cancer, which
is in clinical trials, can be used in a doctor's office to test for tell-tale
molecules in a patient sample that indicate the presence of abnormal chromosomes
associated with cancer.
